The Role of AI in Content Marketing: How to Use AI for Blog Writing anksimage blog

Let’s be honest: content marketing takes time.

From brainstorming blog topics to drafting, editing, and optimizing—it’s a creative but often overwhelming process, especially for small businesses and solo entrepreneurs juggling multiple tasks.

Enter AI content marketing—where artificial intelligence tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, Copy.ai, and others are transforming the way we create content. They’re not just speeding things up; they’re making content smarter, more strategic, and surprisingly scalable.

In this blog, we’ll explore the power of AI in content marketing, specifically in blog writing, and show you exactly how to use AI tools to streamline your workflow, enhance quality, and boost productivity.

Why AI is Changing the Game in Content Marketing

AI tools have become powerful allies for marketers because they offer:

  • Speed: Generate outlines, headlines, or entire articles in minutes
  • Consistency: Maintain brand voice and tone across content
  • Creativity: Suggest new ideas, hooks, or angles you may not think of
  • SEO Assistance: Help with keyword optimization, meta tags, and readability
  • Cost Efficiency: Reduce reliance on large writing teams without compromising quality

It’s not about replacing human creativity—it’s about amplifying it.

Top AI Blog Writing Tools to Know

Let’s look at some popular AI blog writing tools and what they’re best at:

đŸ”č ChatGPT (by OpenAI)

Best for: Content ideation, rough drafts, expanding points, FAQs
Strength: Versatile and conversational
How to use: Prompt it with specific instructions like:

“Write an outline for a blog post on SEO for small businesses.”

Author’s note – I love using ChatGPT. Whether it’s helping my clients get the best content marketing for their brands, or simply researching with my daughter on her lessons, ChatGPT is my favorite tool. But I got better with it only when I did a proper course in prompt engineering. Without understanding how prompts should be structured, it is difficult to get good results with any AI tool.

đŸ”č Jasper (formerly Jarvis)

Best for: Long-form content, content frameworks, tone control
Strength: Tons of marketing templates (AIDA, PAS, etc.)
How to use: Choose a template, input your topic, set tone & audience—and Jasper builds it out.

Author’s note – I have used it but I am not a big fan. There are so many templates to choose from!!

đŸ”č Copy.ai

Best for: Short-form content, idea generation, intro writing
Strength: Fast idea bursts with customizable outputs
How to use: Use it for email subject lines, blog intros, and even clever blog titles.

Author’s note – I have never used it for my work or otherwise. I did practice a bit in it, but again, I am not a fan!

đŸ”č Frase.io

Best for: SEO blog outlines, content briefs
Strength: Research + writing in one dashboard
How to use: Frase crawls the top-ranking content and helps structure your post to compete.

Author’s note – This one is really cool to use. Loved using it. But too expensive 🙁

How to Use AI for Blog Writing: Step-by-Step Guide

✅ Step 1: Brainstorm Blog Ideas with AI

Use tools like ChatGPT or Jasper to come up with fresh content ideas based on your niche.

Prompt Example (ChatGPT):

“Give me 10 blog topic ideas for AI content marketing targeted at solo entrepreneurs.”

You’ll get a quick list that you can refine or combine.

✅ Step 2: Create SEO-Friendly Blog Outlines

Use Frase.io or ChatGPT to generate a blog structure that includes your main points, headings, and subheadings.

Prompt Example (ChatGPT):

“Create a blog outline for: The Role of AI in Content Marketing.”

AI will give you a logical structure that you can edit or expand on.

✅ Step 3: Draft the Content (Quick & Dirty First)

AI excels at building first drafts, which you can then refine to match your voice. Use Jasper’s long-form assistant or ChatGPT to write section by section.

Tips:

  • Be specific in your prompts
  • Guide the tool with context (e.g., target audience, tone)
  • Ask for rewrites when needed

Example Prompt:

“Write 300 words on how AI helps with blog topic research for small businesses.”

✅ Step 4: Add Your Human Touch

AI content isn’t plug-and-publish. Your magic is in editing—this is where you infuse personality, credibility, and nuance.

🎯 Review for:

  • Brand tone consistency
  • Factual accuracy
  • Personal examples or anecdotes
  • Internal linking to other content
  • Removing generic fluff

✅ Step 5: Optimize for SEO

Use tools like Surfer SEO, Yoast (for WordPress), or Frase to optimize:

  • Keyword placement
  • Headings (H1–H3 structure)
  • Meta description
  • Image alt texts
  • Readability score

Many AI blog writing tools integrate directly with SEO plugins to simplify this.

Author’s note – Yoast is my go-to tool for SEO, but it’s difficult to convince clients to invest in it directly.

✅ Step 6: Repurpose the Content

Once your blog is ready, use AI tools to spin it into:

  • Social media captions (ChatGPT or Copy.ai)
  • LinkedIn carousels
  • Newsletter blurbs
  • Instagram story scripts
  • Video outlines

Prompt Example (ChatGPT):

“Turn this blog into 3 LinkedIn post ideas with CTAs.”

Best Practices for Using AI Content Marketing Tools

đŸš« Don’t rely on AI blindly – Always review for context, bias, and accuracy. Edit as a harsh critic.

✅ Do use AI for structure, speed, and scale – Let AI handle the mechanical parts so you can focus on creativity.

🔁 Use it iteratively – If the first draft feels off, tweak the prompt or ask for alternatives.

🧠 Think of AI as a collaborator, not a ghostwriter.

The Human-AI Partnership: Why You Still Matter

AI can write. But you create meaning.

Your insights, stories, and voice are what make content relatable and trustworthy. AI gives you the structure and efficiency—but your unique perspective builds the connection.

That’s why the best AI-powered blog posts don’t feel robotic—they feel sharp, helpful, and human.

Conclusion: Start Small, Grow Smarter

The rise of AI blog writing tools doesn’t mean the death of human creativity—it signals a new era where creators are faster, smarter, and more strategic.

If you’re new to AI content marketing, start with one tool (like ChatGPT or Jasper), test it in your writing process, and see what it can automate or elevate.

And remember:
The real power lies not in what AI can write for you, but in what you can do once you’re free to focus on strategy, storytelling, and scaling your business.

Author’s note: I created this blog post, it’s outline, meta data, everything except the blog banner with Orion, my AI assistant. We work together to produce optimized content, but without my prompts, the resulting content can be quite different from what is displayed above. Additionally, I edited this entire copy to suit the way I usually write, that is, conversational style.

So what do you think?
